The maker’s own recipe

1:1580 g coffee1,200 mL watersteep 12–24 h

This is the recipe Maestri House publishes for this brewer, and it is what Cold Brew Studio opens with when you pick it. It makes about 4½ cups, best straight over ice.

How the maker does it

Official MHCB02 instruction manual: fill the container with 1200 ml purified water (marked on the container body scale) and add coffee grounds to the powder cylinder per the desired coffee-to-water ratio: 1:10 = 120g, 1:12 = 100g, 1:15 = 80g, 1:20 = 60g (all against the same 1200ml fill). Use coarse grounds 'similar to breadcrumbs.' Gently shake to saturate, refrigerate upright or lying flat, and steep 12-24 hours (consume within 24 hours of brewing). Unscrew and drain the filter basket to separate the grounds from the finished brew - no separate post-brew dilution step is specified; the chosen ratio is the drinking strength.

The recipe, by strength

Each one fills this brewer as far as it honestly goes. Numbers are for a light roast steeping in the fridge.

If your beans are darker

Darker roasts give up their flavor faster, so they brew at a slightly wider ratio and steep for less time.

How it goes

  1. Grounds in the basket.
  2. Water over, slowly.
  3. Stir once.
  4. Lid on, into the fridge.

Grind coarse, about the size of coarse sea salt. Find the number for your grinder.

Good to know

Integrated 350-mesh filter cylinder plus a printed ratio table (1:10-1:20, 120g-60g against a fixed 1200ml fill) means it's designed to brew straight to final drinking strength rather than a concentrate-then-dilute method - just pick the ratio for the strength you want instead of diluting afterward. Otherwise standard coarse grind and steep apply.

This brewer takes about 120 g of coffee at most. Stronger recipes can’t add more grounds, so they use less water instead. That is why every strength comes in under the full 1,200 mL.
