This is the recipe Primula publishes for this brewer, and it is what Cold Brew Studio opens with when you pick it. It makes about 4¼ cups, best straight over ice.

How the maker does it

Primula's official instructions (by volume, not weight): place coarsely ground coffee in the removable fine-mesh brew filter, insert filter in the carafe, slowly pour 2 cups of water over the coffee to dampen it, then slowly fill the remainder of the carafe with water to cover the grounds or up to the top of the brew filter's viewing windows — the carafe/filter combo is 'designed to hold 40 oz. water and 16 tbsp. of coffee.' Stir grounds until saturated, tighten the lid, and refrigerate 24 hours ('for ultimate flavor extraction, stir grounds during the brewing process'). Unscrew the filter bottom to discard grounds. No specific dilution ratio is given for serving — instructions just say add creamer/cream substitute, sugar, and ice to taste. Stays fresh in the fridge up to 14 days.

The recipe, by strength

Each one fills this brewer as far as it honestly goes. Numbers are for a light roast steeping in the fridge.

If your beans are darker

Darker roasts give up their flavor faster, so they brew at a slightly wider ratio and steep for less time.

Good to know

Uses a fine mesh filter (not felt or paper) with a removable/screw-off bottom, so grind coarseness matters more here to limit fine sediment passing through into the carafe. The official recipe, converted to weight, is noticeably weaker (about 1:14) than Toddy's or OXO's felt/disc-filtered concentrates (about 1:4-1:6) and comes with no set dilution ratio — it's designed to be poured over ice and doctored with cream/sugar closer to full strength rather than diluted as a concentrate.

This brewer takes about 100 g of coffee at most. Stronger recipes can’t add more grounds, so they use less water instead. That is why every strength comes in under the full 1,183 mL.
