This is the recipe Ovalware publishes for this brewer, and it is what Cold Brew Studio opens with when you pick it. It makes about 5½ cups, best straight over ice.

How the maker does it

Fill the removable stainless-steel mesh filter about 5/6 full with 110g of coarsely ground coffee (extra-coarse/French-press style). Pour room-temperature filtered water slowly and evenly into the carafe up to the MAX fill line (1,500ml/1.5L), then stir gently so all grounds are evenly saturated. Place in the fridge with the lid on and steep 12-18 hours (Ovalware's own 'sweet spot' is 14-16h; up to 24h for a stronger batch; room-temperature steeping instead takes only 8-12h for a slightly stronger brew). The result is ready-to-drink at this ratio — no dilution needed unless you prefer it lighter — served straight over ice or cut with water, milk, oat milk, or cream to taste. Store in the airtight carafe in the fridge up to 2 weeks.

The recipe, by strength

Each one fills this brewer as far as it honestly goes. Numbers are for a light roast steeping in the fridge.

If your beans are darker

Darker roasts give up their flavor faster, so they brew at a slightly wider ratio and steep for less time.

Grind coarse, about the size of coarse sea salt. Find the number for your grinder.

Good to know

Uses a fine stainless-steel mesh filter basket (not paper) — wants a coarse, French-press-style grind, since finer grounds slip past the mesh and cause sediment/bitterness. Brews at a stronger, ready-to-drink ratio (about 1:13.6) rather than a concentrate meant for dilution.

This brewer takes about 125 g of coffee at most. Stronger recipes can’t add more grounds, so they use less water instead. That is why every strength comes in under the full 1,500 mL.
