Toddy Go Portable Cold Brew System: ratio and recipe
42g coffee400mL water
That is an everyday batch at 1:9.5, steeped 18–22 hours in the fridge and poured straight over ice. Holds 400 mL of water and takes up to 120 g of coffee.
What the maker says
Official Toddy Go Brewer instructions describe two methods, both producing ~25 oz (0.75L) of ready-to-drink cold brew/tea: (1) Pitcher packs - place a pre-portioned pitcher pack in the brewer, add cool filtered water to the internal 'brew line,' replace the midsection and cap, brew 8-24 hours at room temperature, remove and drain the pack, then add ice/flavorings and top up with water or dairy to the 'final dilution line.' (2) 'Go your own way' - measure coarse ground coffee to the lower fill line for light/medium roast or the line above it for dark roast, pour into a filter bag, secure with string or a Toddy Cinch, place in the brewer, add water to the brew line, brew 8-24 hours, then dilute to the final line the same way. Note: brewer heats up in direct sun; refrigerate after brewing and consume within a few days. No numeric oz/gram values are printed on the fill lines themselves.

The recipe, by strength
Each one fills this brewer as far as it honestly goes. Numbers are for a light roast steeping in the fridge.
| Strength | Ratio | Coffee | Water | Steep | Makes | Drink it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Everyday | 1:9.5 | 42 g | 400 mL | 18–22 h | about 1¼ cups | straight over ice |
| Strong | 1:7.5 | 53 g | 400 mL | 18–22 h | about 1¼ cups | with a splash of milk |
| Jet fuel | 1:5.3 | 75 g | 400 mL | 18–22 h | about 1½ cups | cut with a little water or milk |
| Concentrate | 1:4.5 | 89 g | 400 mL | 18–22 h | about 2 cups | mixed 1:1 with water or milk |
If your beans are darker
Darker roasts give up their flavor faster, so they brew at a slightly wider ratio and steep for less time.
| Roast | Ratio | Coffee | Water | Steep in the fridge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | 1:9.5 | 42 g | 400 mL | 18–22 h |
| Medium | 1:10 | 40 g | 400 mL | 14–18 h |
| Dark | 1:10.5 | 38 g | 400 mL | 10–14 h |

How it goes
- Plug in, grounds in.
- Water over, slowly.
- Don’t stir.
- Lid on, into the fridge.
Grind coarse, about the size of coarse sea salt. Find the number for your grinder.
Good to know
Bakes a two-stage brew-then-dilute process into the vessel itself: you steep coarse grounds (or a pitcher pack) to an internal 'brew line,' then top up to a separate 'final dilution line' afterward to reach the roughly 25oz ready-to-drink volume - so the concentrate ratio and the dilution step are both fixed by the brewer's markings rather than left to the user. The coffee fill line also shifts higher for dark roast vs. light/medium roast at the same water line. Uses a felt/paper-style filter bag (string-tied) rather than a rigid mesh basket, more like a portable Toddy pouch than a metal cone.
